Behind the scenes: Miss Lavender Lemonade

The Curious Case of Miss Lavender Lemonade's Cakes is a whimsical short film designed to push stylisation techniques in a virtual production studio. If Wes Anderson, Mary Poppins, and a french bakery had a love child, it would be Miss Lavender.
Production design began 8 weeks from shoot date and began with the essential palette: lemon and lavender.

And what does every good, magical bakery need?
Magical, delicious cakes, of course!
All cakes were made from scratch using round gift boxes, bowls, modelling paste, paint, ribbon, foam trim, and any other spare packaging lying around at home.

Next, came the physical set pieces.
The entire thing was made from reclaimed set pieces, paint, and shelving from Kmart.
Then, it's time to finish off the last of the props for set: wigs and costumes, flour sacks, collecting flowers and cake boxes!
Bring it all to set a few days before shooting and begin set decorating.
Add in the digital backgrounds (which, I had to make at the same time as the physical items to try and create visual continuity.) to bring it all to life! The result?

Miss Lavender Lemonade is due for release late August 2025.
